5 Must-Visit Breweries in Maryland

Thinking about a place to enjoy a nice tasty beer and spend quality time with friends this weekend? Look no further than some of Maryland’s top local breweries. Last year, I went on an impromptu beer tour of some of the breweries in the area and I have to say, I highly recommend planning one of your own with your friends. It’s an incredibly fun day full of beer tasting, tours, and snacks (of course)! So without further delay, here are the 7 Must-Visit Breweries in Maryland (and yes, I know this post isn’t about food but quenching thirst is just as important as eating).

1. Union Craft Brewing

Union recently renovated their brewery and it is quite honestly one of the most amazing places I’ve ever been to. There’s a ton of space for you and your friends to sit and enjoy different craft beers. Grab some snacks and grab a flight (if that’s your kind of thing)! If you’re into sours, I highly recommend their Sour Deezus and Rough Draughts: Dark Sour. Another great craft beer to try is their Cide Project: #1 Cherry Berliner. So, what are you waiting for? Union Craft Brewing is the number one place to be (and where you’ll find me!).

2. Waverly Brewing Company

Waverly Brewing Company is one of my favorite breweries in Maryland (obviously the reason it made the list). Their taproom is a mix of an old neighborhood bar, art gallery, and lounge area. It really has that intimate feel as soon as you walk in – like you’ve just walked into your home. I suggest trying their Nitro Sour: Pineapple Upside Down G’oat or even their Pappas Pale (both extremely good beers). Or if a lager is more your thing, you’ll have to try their Batty No! So, be sure to make Waverly Brewing Company your next Saturday hangout with your friends, you won’t regret it.

3. Diamondback Brewing Company

Do I even need to say more? Honestly, look at that outside seating area (pictured above). It’s not hard to see why Diamondback Brewing Company is the place to be on the weekends (especially during the summer)! There’s so much space for you and your friends to enjoy some beers and fun at the same time. If you find yourself at Diamondback (which I know you will) you need to try their Green Machine or even their Missed Connections. Did I mention they also have Mario Kart? Yeah, so you can drink your beer and test your luck on Rainbow Road at the same time.

4. Flying Dog Brewery

Flying Dog has up to 20 beers on tap, what more do you need? They also have a food truck for when you want to grab a bite or two with your friends. Did I mention you can bring your own growler to be filled? Yeah, that’s a big plus. If you find yourself at Flying Dog Brewery be sure to try their Last Minute Gift: Cranberry Tangerine Gose, their Sunday Best, or even their Numero Uno Agave Cerveza. Honestly, all of Flying Dog Brewery’s craft beers are amazing so I promise whichever you try you’ll be sure to enjoy it.

5. Monument City Brewing Company

How incredible does that taproom look? Nice and spacious while the brick gives it that genuine brewery feel. Did I mention it’s located in a historic Baltimore industrial building? If you have a large group of friends (and who doesn’t when it comes to beer) Monument City Brewing Company is the place for you. Even if it’s just you and a friend you’ll feel like you have your own space to yourself. Be sure to try their 51 Rye or even their Rooftop Pineapple Mint Pale Ale. Also, and this is always a plus, there is live music every Friday night and food trucks on Saturday. So, are you on your way there yet?
